About Kacey Montoya
Kacey Montoya is a TV news reporter and anchor.
She attended Cal State University Northridge where she graduated with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Sociology. She earned many awards in college including 1st place for TV In-depth reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists for her talk show on Political Free Speech.
Kacey interned at CNN in Los Angeles in the Entertainment News Division where she spent most of her time behind the scenes on the red carpet at movie premieres and award shows learning the ropes.
Her first on-air job was in Oak Hill, West Virginia. Kacey spent a year at the ABC affiliate WOAY as the morning and noon anchor. Then it was back to sunny SoCal to work at KPSP, the CBS affiliate in Palm Springs where she was the morning co-anchor. She was very active with the Humane Society of the Desert and helped raise over $50,000 for the Orphan Pet Oasis. She earned an Emmy Award for her morning show’s coverage the day of President Gerald Ford’s funeral.
In November of 2007 she joined KOIN Local 6 in Portland, Ore. where she worked for more than five years. In Portland she started working with Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals (OFOSA) and National Women’s Coalition Against Violence & Exploitation (NWCAVE). Kacey also hosted DT Daily, a tech news segment for DigitalTrends.com.
